Daily toll road travel
These charts show the average daily traffic numbers on each of our roads.
During 2020 and 2021, travel restrictions and other pandemic containment measures reduced travel on affected roads as shown.
The data also shows travel is generally trending up again as people begin moving around their cities and states once again.
Traffic numbers can also vary based on changes such as lane-widening works and new connectivity with other roads.
Pandemic impacts on travel
Want to know more about how the pandemic has changed people’s mobility? Since July 2020 we have surveyed
thousands of people across cities in Australia and North America to track the impact of COVID-19 on mobility.

Toll spend
Linkt is Transurban's retail brand in Australia, providing customers with convenient options to pay for toll travel. Below we've included information on average weekly spend for our Australian customers travelling in a private vehicle. We have based this on data collected between April 2019 and March 2020 as this excludes COVID-19 impacts on customer travel and is therefore a more accurate representation of customer spend. The figures exclude dormant customer accounts.
Average weekly spend
On average, customers travelling in a private vehicle spend $7 per week on tolls, with 81% spending less than $10 per week.

Reasons for travel
We surveyed residents across metropolitan Melbourne, Sydney and Brisbane to find out the main reason they use toll roads. As shown, socialising (19%) is the most common reason given for toll-road travel, followed by commuting to work and study (16%) and travelling for work and holidays (both 13%).
